Name: Hazel Turvey
Company Role: Group Director of Collections
Hi Hazel, thank you for taking the time to speak with us - and congratulations on your promotion! To get us started, it would be great if you could please tell us a little about your Cherry Godfrey journey?
I joined Cherry Godfrey because I wanted to work for a local company whose ethos was to put the customer first: support them through their good times, and their bad times. I’ve worked here for over ten years now and I love what I do! Cherry Godfrey’s core values really support my desire to genuinely help people, which is something I still find so rewarding every single day.
That’s wonderful to hear! And what are you most excited about when it comes to your new role?
Joining the Group Directors’ WhatsApp Group! (I’m joking!) I am so very grateful for the support Cherry Godfrey have given me over the years. It just shows that good employers do reward hard work and dedication. I was very overwhelmed when they gave me the news of my promotion.
Despite the challenges brought about by inflation and increases to the cost of living, the team and I are really dedicated to providing the best possible support to our customers. Occupying a pan-jurisdictional role, I can ensure Cherry Godfrey’s customer-first ethos is maintained by all Islands.
Superb. What do you love most about Cherry Godfrey?
I love the shared passion amongst all our staff to help our customers. Also, the fact that the company truly lives by its values, day in, day out, in everything it does.
Very true! What makes someone a great leader?
A leader should consider their position as a privilege. They should aspire to nurture the strength and talents of their staff to achieve a common goal and to ensure their teams feels valued. It’s important to balance work with play as well.
I could not agree more. What daily habits help you succeed?
I would say that I have a daily habit of being focused whilst making time to listen to colleagues and customers.
And, finally, what do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love to socialise with my friends, most of whom are my colleagues! I go to a dance class on Monday - nothing serious but lots of fun! And I am trying very hard to enjoy the gym! My family are also a big part of my life: I particularly love spending time with my amazing grandson Issac.
Thank you so much Hazel for taking the time to let us get to know you a bit better today!
